چکیده
An adaptive refinenlenl, strategy based on hierarchical elelnellt sul_division is formulat.ed and iml)h'nwt+ted for meshes containing arl)ilrarv nlixlltres o[ t.et.rahedra, hexahedra. 1)risms and pyramids. Special at.tentiot_ is given to keepitlg metnorv overheads as low as possible. This pt'ocedure is coupled with an algel)raic multigrid flow solver which ol)erales on mixedelement meshes. Inviscid flows as well as viscous flows are computed on adaptively refined tet.rahedral, hexahedral, and hybrid meshes. Further Extension and Validation Of A Parallel Unstructured Mesh Adaptation Package
A parallel tetrahedral mesh adaptation code is expanded to treat general, mixed-element unstructured meshes comprised of any combination of basic element types. Emphasis is placed on developing conforming mesh modification methods that are solver-independent. Specific developments include the implementation of a treatment for viscous, high aspect ratio near wall tetrahedra, and cell subdivision...
متن کاملA p-Multigrid Spectral Difference method for viscous compressible flow using 2D quadrilateral meshes
The work focuses on the development of a 2D quadrilateral element based Spectral Difference solver for viscous flow calculations, and the application of the p-multigrid method and implicit time-stepping to accelerate convergence. This paper extends the previous work by Liang et al (2009) on the p-multigrid method for 2D inviscid compressible flow, to viscous flows. The high-order spectral diffe...
متن کاملFinite element mesh generation and adaptive meshing
This review paper gives a detailed account of the development of mesh generation techniques on planar regions, over curved surfaces and within volumes for the past years. Emphasis will be on the generation of the unstructured meshes for purpose of complex industrial applications and adaptive refinement finite element analysis. Over planar domains and on curved surfaces, triangular and quadrilat...
متن کاملSpectral difference method for compressible flow on unstructured grids with mixed elements
This paper presents the development of a 2D solver for inviscid and viscous compressible flows using the spectral difference (SD) method for unstructured grids with mixed elements. A mixed quadrilateral and triangular grid is first refined using one-level h-refinement to generate a quadrilateral grid while keeping the curvature of boundary edges. The SD method designed for quadrilateral meshes ...
متن کاملMultigrid Solution Strategies for Adaptive Meshing Problems
This paper discusses the issues which arise when combining multigrid strategies with adaptive meshing techniques for solving steady-state problems on unstructured meshes. A basic strategy is described, and demonstrated by solving several inviscid and viscous ow cases. Potential ine ciencies in this basic strategy are exposed, and various alternate approaches are discussed, some of which are dem...
